چکیده
Distances in virtual environments (VEs) viewed on a head-mounted display (HMD) are typically underperceived relative to the intended distance. This paper presents an experiment comparing perceived egocentric distance real environment with that matched VE presented Oculus Quest and 2. Participants made verbal judgments blind walking object ground. Both 2 produced underperception. Verbal were 82% 75% of distance, contrast world 94% Blind 68% 70% 2, respectively, compared 88% world. project shows significant underperception persists even modern HMDs.

Augmented Reality Oculus Rift
This paper covers the whole process of developing an Augmented Reality Stereoscopig Render Engine for the Oculus Rift. To capture the real world in form of a camera stream, two cameras with fish-eye lenses had to be installed on the Oculus Rift DK1 hardware. The idea was inspired by Steptoe [1]. After the introduction, a theoretical part covers all the most neccessary elements to achieve an AR ...
متن کاملAugmented Reality for the Oculus Rift DK1
In this work we investigate the creation of an augmented reality environment using the Oculus Rift DK1 combined with two webcams, similar to what has been done by Steptoe et al. in [1]. First we recapitulate the definition of augmented reality and the general obstacles to overcome. Upon which we discuss the state of the art and move on to the specifics of this implementation of augmented realit...

As high quality, low-cost image sensors have proliferated in the consumer market, significant new frontiers in computer vision have become accessible. Similar advances in display technology have also made low-cost, practical virtual reality tools available to consumers. However, these developments have not yet been paired together in meaningful ways. We present our novel, low-cost virtual reali...
